Resignation letter: ready templates in Arabic and English, and how to submit it
Before you write, know your contract type: since the 2025 amendments a fixed-term contract takes a resignation request and an open-ended one takes a notice of termination. The difference is one line, but it decides when your contract ends. Here is a template for each, and one in English.
Resignation or notice?
Your contract type decides the letter:
- Fixed-term contract: a resignation request with no deferred date, which the law does not allow (Article 79 bis). The contract ends on acceptance or after 30 days without an answer.
- Open-ended contract: a written notice of termination at least 30 days before the end date (Article 75).
A resignation request carries no deferred date; an open-ended notice names a date at least 30 days ahead.
Template 1: resignation request (fixed-term contract)
Dear [Manager's name],
Please accept my resignation from my position as [Job title] at [Company].
Thank you for the opportunity and your trust. I am ready to help hand over my work in full.
[Name] — [Employee number] — [Date] — [Signature]
Template 2: notice of termination (open-ended contract)
Dear [Manager's name],
I am giving notice that I wish to end my open-ended employment contract as [Job title] at [Company], to end on [Date], thirty days after the date of this notice, under Article 75 of the Labor Law.
Thank you for the opportunity. I will hand over my work in full before that date.
[Name] — [Employee number] — [Notice date] — [Signature]
How to submit it, and when it counts as accepted
A resignation is submitted in writing on Qiwa. It counts as accepted after 30 days without an answer; the employer may postpone acceptance by up to 60 days where the work requires, with a written, reasoned explanation given before the 30 days end (Article 79 bis).
You may withdraw it within 7 days of submitting it unless the employer has accepted it, and the contract stays in force, with all its obligations, until it ends.
On an open-ended contract, the side that ends it without notice owes the other the wage for the notice period (Article 76).
Before you send it
Work out your dues first: the end-of-service award differs between fixed-term and open-ended contracts, and between two, five and ten years. Add pay for leave not taken and any unpaid wages.
And get your CV ready before the contract ends: the easiest time to write down your achievements is while you are still in the job and remember the numbers.
Fixed-term: a resignation request with no deferred date, ending on acceptance or after 30 days. Open-ended: a notice at least 30 days before the end date. Work out your dues before you send it, and start your CV while you still remember what you achieved.
