What a salary certificate is
A letter from the employer confirming that the employee works there, with their job title, joining date and monthly salary in full.
Banks ask for it before personal loans, mortgages and credit cards, embassies with visa applications, and some landlords before a lease. HR issues it on the company's letterhead.
What it contains
- The date and who the letter is addressed to.
- The employee's name, nationality and ID or Iqama number.
- Job title and joining date.
- Basic salary, housing and transport allowances, any other allowances, and the total.
- The line "without any liability on the company towards third parties".
- The signatory's name and title, signature and the company stamp.
Before you print it
- Print it on the official letterhead and have it signed and stamped. Most institutions do not accept an unstamped letter.
- If a bank asks for a letter addressed to it, put the bank's name in "Addressed to".
- Keep the salary consistent with the wage registered with GOSI; some banks compare the two.
- Need it in Arabic? Switch "Letter language" to عربي and the same details change over.
