What an experience certificate is
A letter from the employer confirming that the employee worked there, in which role, and from when to when. The Saudi Labour Law calls it a service certificate.
Article 64 of the Labour Law requires the employer, when a contract ends, to give the worker a service certificate on request and free of charge, stating the joining date, the end date, the occupation and the last wage.
What it contains
- The date.
- The employee's name, nationality and ID or Iqama number.
- The job title as it was in the contract.
- The period of employment, or "to date" if the employee is still there.
- A line on commitment and conduct, and "without any liability on the company towards third parties".
- The signatory's name and title, signature and the company stamp.
When you need it
- When a new employer asks for proof of your experience.
- For professional classification, such as the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and the Saudi Council of Engineers.
- With immigration and study applications that count years of experience.
Before you print it
- Print it on the official letterhead and have it signed and stamped.
- Keep the dates and job title consistent with your GOSI record; many institutions compare the two.
- Need it in Arabic? Switch "Letter language" to عربي.
