Civil Engineer CV Example
A civil engineer's CV is read through the projects: their type, their size, and your role on them. A project with a stated value, location and duration says more than any generic description of your duties — and professional membership is a hard requirement in most postings, so it needs to appear early.

Electrical Engineer CV Example
Electrical engineers are assessed on code knowledge before anything else — NEC, IEC and local building codes. After that, on the systems you've designed or supervised and the load sizes you've handled.

The first thing checked on an engineer's CV in Saudi Arabia is not experience but Saudi Council of Engineers membership and classification grade — without it the application is not complete. Then comes the question engineers use to size each other up: how large were the projects you delivered?
Classification before experience
Put your membership number, classification grade and expiry in their own section near the top. "Registered with the Council" without a grade sends the file back, and the grade sets both the title and the salary.
If you are mid-classification, say so plainly with the stage you have reached — clearer than silence and more honest than a claim.
A project is described by its numbers
"Supervised construction of a residential project" says nothing. Contract value, floors, area and duration say everything — and they are the first thing an interviewing engineer compares against their own experience.
State your role precisely: site engineer, designer, or quality supervisor? Three entirely different jobs under the title "engineer", and anyone who does not specify is read as the weakest of them.

Keep experience letters from your first project
Raising your classification grade depends on years documented by experience letters from accredited employers, not on what your CV says. Many engineers discover this late, after moving through three companies without a single letter.
Ask for the letter when you leave anywhere, even on good terms. Obtaining it two years later is harder than you would expect.
Common questions
- Is Saudi Council of Engineers membership mandatory?
- Yes, to work under the engineer title in Saudi Arabia. Put the membership number, classification grade and expiry on the CV — it is the first condition checked, and its absence can end an application before the rest of the page is read.
- Should I list projects or jobs?
- Both. Jobs give the chronology; projects give the scale and type — and in engineering it is the project that gets assessed, not the title. Under each job, name your two or three strongest projects with their numbers.
- What difference does PMP make?
- A real one if you are heading into project management rather than design. Contractors and consultants name it directly in project manager postings; it is worth less to anyone on a purely design track.
